On the occasion of the “Zinnober Hannover” the TURBA Gallery presents the solo exhibition “Double Collision” of the Korean artist Mijin Hyun (*1984 born in Seoul, South Korea). In this exhibition, the artist guides the visitors through a parcours of works that question the fetishization of artworks. By being asked to interact with the objects on display, visitors experience a transformation from art to everyday objects and back again.

Recipients enter into a direct dialogue with the exhibition and are confronted with the decision of interaction and non-interaction as well as the consequences.

Mijin Hyun uses performative, interactive and playful means to analyze the relationship between space, recipient, perception and artwork. She forms a counterpoint to classical white-cube situations in which the visitors behave like satellites to the works. Instead, it motivates them to actively participate and encourages independent thinking and decision-making.

In her installations and objects, she not only elegantly negotiates central elements of the art cosmos, but also reminds us of the socio-political character of the exhibition space. “Double Collision” is a course of a somewhat different kind and a space of possibility in which the viewers can playfully question their own imprinting and socialization.
