The exhibition TURBA by the artists Marlene Bart, Jan Gerngro\u00df & Jean D. Sikiaridis in “einRaum5-7<\/a>” was the beginning of the TURBA idea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How is the identity of the artist constructed?
What are the conditions of his aesthetic production?
What themes and motifs characterize his oeuvre?
How does his socio-cultural environment diffuse his work?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Based on these questions, a situation was constructed in the exhibition space einRaum5-7<\/a> that illuminates, defines and deconstructs precisely those conditions and meanings by means of three independent artistic positions. In the process, the artist’s own work aesthetic, the artistic “comfort zone”, was abandoned and the irritating effect thus created was productively implemented. Boundaries, aesthetics and rules of her own working method were dissolved, shifted and redefined. Motifs, subjects and themes of the artists were exchanged and examined for their interchangeability and arbitrariness. Through this process, the concept of the life theme was critically examined as a work draft, as was still common in the 20th century.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The works shown by Marlene Bart, Jan Gerngro\u00df & Jean D. Sikiaridis did not refer to their usual subjects of the three artists, but to those of the respective others. The relationship between the three artists – they had known each other for several years and were intensively engaged with each other’s artistic output – played a special role and was addressed in the exhibited works. The media implementation of this process took the form of photography, sculpture and video.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition could be visited from February 13 to March 6, 2015 in einRaum5-7<\/a> and was supported in production by Anne Haack. She was also the moderator of the artist talk on the exhibition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n
